Caliber is a software product for companies that shifts the foundations of contracts at one of the great contractual chokepoints of the global economy: the employment contract.
It is easy to imagine a world in which bitcoin is the only money used everywhere by everyone -- contracts of all types are specified in bitcoin, and occasionally, pay cuts (price reductions) are negotiated. Today, even among economic actors who may have adopted bitcoin as store of value or a medium of exchange are usually still specifying 100% of every contract they have in dollars. We know there will be a global transition, and this transition is spoken of ominously because people do not have an understanding of how we jump from dollars to bitcoin in this way, or what will happen to supply chains, etc.
Caliber provides an answer, which is that there is no need for a discontinuous jump. We can construct composite monetary denominators that take into account the moneyness that has leeched across all "non-monetary" assets, thereby forming a smooth path, and a smooth conceptual path for people to navigate their way to Bitcoin. We can use APIs and the web 2.0 technologies to automate contracts since the accounting and execution is only hard if you don't consider that we can do arithmetic on computers and move centralized assets more easily than ever in parallel to bitcoin.
Strange and interesting things start happening when we consider the implications of a non-dollar standard of contract/value... It's an entirely new path to drive adoption of bitcoin, and since we are the first standard of value company in Bitcoin, the marginal returns are massive compared to more people pushing store of value or medium of exchange.
It would be preferable if we don't have to have a close-call with a Mad Max world on the path to hyperbitcoinization. There will be a huge loss of life in the next 1-2 decades and what Bitcoiners do in the following years is the only thing that will put a dent in that, among other looming disasters. Caliber is the company that will play out the end game.
