ZEBEDEE is in search of a high-caliber, results-focused leader that can assist in making ZEBEDEE’s vision a reality. You will be heavily involved in the execution and delivery of ZEBEDEE’s strategic plans, including bringing aboard video game developers and industry-adjacent businesses, and have an innate desire to disrupt and democratise the traditional payments industry within virtual environments. From day one, you will have the opportunity to be heavily involved in the growth of the business and collaborate with ZEBEDEE’s senior team as we look to achieve our long-term goals.

ZEBEDEE is building a new payment processor for virtual worlds, linking the game development ecosystem with traditional fintech, enabling new types of global economic activity for a Gen Z user base. The Head of Business Development will report to the Chief Strategy Officer, who has created top-level opportunities across the gaming industry. They will be responsible for capitalising upon the opportunities created to-date, building out the Business Development team, crafting and delivering pitch materials, and maintaining relationships with game developers. In particular, they will help to establish a core pillar of ZEBEDEE’s commercial operations, including its day-to-day management, goal-setting, culture and outward messaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assume leadership of Business Development at ZEBEDEE, to include planning and directing all aspects of ZEBEDEE’s Business Development objectives and initiatives
  • Manage ZEBEDEE’s Business Development process and internal data systems
  • Assist in development of new commercial initiatives, assessment of new markets and verticals, and analysis of new business opportunities
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of ZEBDEEE’s products and services
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and other events to build relationships, as well as raise awareness of ZEBEDEE
  • Participate in regular communications with senior management to explore and maximise revenue opportunities in front of ZEBEDEE
  • Build a robust sales pipeline and engage with key stakeholders across the video games and payments industries
  • Attract, develop, and retain outstanding talent to build out ZEBEDEE’s Business Development team
  • Support the development of sales materials and tailor materials to each prospective client
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Strategic Initiatives teams to leverage ZEBEDEE’s adjacent operations for Business Development

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • 5+ years managerial Business Development lead experience, including building Business Development functions from the ground up 
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience building high-performing sales teams in a high-growth environment
  • Previous experience hiring and establishing a top-performing Business Development team within the Video Games and/or FinTech industries
  • Provably deep relationships with the Video Games industry, ideally with the majority of relationships at C-level across multiple segments of the industry (e.g. from mobile hyper-casual to “AAA” studios)
  • Detailed understanding of the Video Games industry landscape, including demographics, core segments, operating metrics and key players
  • Demonstrable experience building a sales pipeline, pitching to prospective clients, and exceeding sales goals
  • Enjoy attending industry events and connecting with others
  • Exceptional listening/communication/presentation skills and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to think holistically about clients’ own go-to-market and management of that process

  • Strong multitasker with the ability to prioritise work based on business and operational needs
  • Strategic thinker with an enterprise-level orientation, strong conceptual problem-solving and analytical skills, and the ability to execute at the tactical level within a B2B2C environment
  • Familiarity with FinTech and/or awareness of Bitcoin and the Lightning Network are major pluses, but not necessary
  • Extremely strong work ethic to match the rest of the ZEBEDEE organisation
